12,17x42R

This is where it both begins and ends. 12,17x42R is the first ammunition with metallic cartridge  for rifles to be used by the Swedish defence and the last of the old type. That is with a big and slow bullet. And the cartridge is a rim fire, like that of a .22LR cartridge today. The cartridge was used in rifle m/67 that was a single shot Remington roll block rifle.

This is a blank 12,7mm cartridge. It is propably loaded with black powder and then sealed with wax. The wax is still soft to the tutche. The case length is a bit shorter than the live round.
The bottom of the cartridge is plane, without stamps.

A big thanks to a private collector for lending this cartridge to me.
