7,5 mm Nagant

7,5mm Nagant was used for revolver m/87. It was in service from 1887 to 1907 when pistol m/07 replaced it. It lived a life after that in the total defence and was used in the local defence until WW2. When it was assigned in 1897 it was regarded as a very weak calibre. We went from a slow 11mm bullet to a quick 7,5mm bullet. The penetrating abilities were considered to be impressive, particularly  in wood.

This is a cartridge with jacket bullet and smokeless powder. It's introduced 1898. It turned out not to stand the storage, so the black powder cartridge with led bullet was re introduced.

This cartridges neck has a rose-petal closure and is made for dog traning. This type of blank 7,5 Nagant ammunition is of a fairly new design.

A big thanks to John Giles, California for this picture!
